Oregon Fish and Game Warden Eligibility Requirements

Age: 21 years old or older is required at that period of academy entry in Oregon.

Permit: A legal Oregon-issued driver’s license is needed.

Military Service: Applicants that are former members of the USA military require ‘Under Honorable States’ release documentation.

  • Criminal convictions, including misdemeanors involving moral turpitude, or felonies
  • Prohibited drug use in the previous 10 years (three years for pot)
  • Convicted of a felony in another state, or Oregon
  • Convicted of sexually violent offenses
  • Hooked on, or in danger to become dependent on, narcotics
  • Unsuccessful drug testing before employment

High school diploma or its equivalent; Bachelor degree or an Associate Degree’s in criminal justice, law enforcement, resource management or biological sciences could be particularly considered.

New recruits will give attention to what is termed First Responder training, which comprises the following:

  • 32 hours of training that is medical
  • 26 hours of defensive strategies
  • 16 hours of verbal communicating
  • 40 hours for firearms training
