Pennsylvania Game Warden Eligibility Requirements

Age: 18 years old or older is required during the point of academy entry in Pennsylvania.

Citizenship: Must be a Pennsylvania resident. U.S. citizenship proof; or proof of permanent resident status for those eligible and who have applied for citizenship. At time of appointment, must be a resident of the state.

Permit: A legal Pennsylvania-issued driver’s license is needed.

Military Service: Applicants that are former members of the USA military require ‘Under Honorable States’ release documentation.

Work Qualifications: Candidates should be able to produce documentation that proves eligibility and identity for U.S. employment.

Legal History: Disqualifying components may contain the following:

  • Convicted of a felony in another state, or Pennsylvania
  • Hooked, or in danger of becoming addicted, to drugs
  • Convicted, and committed to the state institution

Academic Credentials: GED or high school diploma is required; a Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, environmental sciences, conservation or wildlife management is advantageous.
